If your centrepieces
aren't rented or you don't want to keep the ones you've bought,
you'll need a way to get rid of them.
FB Advice:
If you have people that you would like a centrepiece to go to,
there are certain games that can be fixed, like: Characteristics,
Early Bird Catches the Worm and Twist the Night Away. It's a great
idea to keep the boxes that the centrepieces were delivered in
for transportation later.
CHARACTERISTICS
Under each
centrepiece put a piece of paper with different descriptions of
people on them, such as: shortest person, longest legs, woman
wearing the most makeup, oldest person, oldest person, drunkest
person, etc...
CLOSEST
BIRTHDAY
The person
with the closest birthday to the wedding date
EARLY
BIRD CATCHES THE WORM
We gave the
centrepieces to the first person that sent their response card
back from each table.
HIDE
'N' SEEK
Put a piece
of paper with word "winner" written on it under one
plate at each table. Be sure to have the centrepiece game before
the dinner plates are removed. Or put a sticker under one chair
at each table.
FB Tip:
after you place that one item at each table, be sure to tip or
turn a chair backwards. That way youll know which tables
are already done.
HOT
POTATO
A - Almost
like musical chairs. The DJ will ask that one person at each table
grab a napkin and when the music starts this napkin gets past
around the table. Whoever is holding the napkin when the music
stops is out. The last person standing wins but sometimes the
person that started the game wins or the person sitting to the
left or right of the supposed winner wins.
B - Similar
to the hot potato, except that everyone had to stand up. At each
table, a set of keys, a fork, a napkin, and a glass of red wine
were passed around. When the music stopped, the person with the
set of keys had to sit down. When the music stopped again, the
person with the fork had to sit down, etc. Until the last object
was the napkin, when the music stopped for the napkin, the people
holding the napkin had to go on to the dance floor and do the
YMCA facing the head table. After that, the MC said, "the
people sitting to the left of the person with the napkin gets
the centrepiece". It was a great ice breaker, and loads of
fun, because it was unpredictable
LET'S
DO THE TWIST
Everyone gets
up. Guests from each table stay in their groups (together) on
the dance floor. The DJ plays "The Twist", the B&G
and parents split up & judge the dancers in their section
of the dance floor (include the wedding party if you're having
a big wedding), picking 1 winner or 1 couple from each group.
Good way to wake everyone up after dinner.
LONGEST
MARRIED COUPLE
The couple
married the longest at each table wins.
MUSICAL
CHAIRS
This is a
great way to get everyone up and moving after a big meal. Gets
the heart pumping and ready for dancing.
ONE
OF THESE THINGS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER
Everyone will
have a little box with a chocolate truffle inside beside their
plate. Then the DJ announces, whoever has the white chocolate
truffle is the winner of the centrepiece.
YOU'VE
COME A LONG WAY BABY
The person
at each table who has traveled the farthest distance
